LAST 3 DAYS!

This is a exciting, but hard 3 days. So much for me as a teacher to do, as well as keeping the restless natives under control, but also just having to say goodbye to this little family we have created this year is an emotional thing. I truly love your children and wish them all the best in their lives ahead. Take good care of them, for they are precious.

This week we will do fun work, read, and play a lot, as well as watch a couple of movies. Tuesday is Grizzly Day, so the kids need to wear their tennis shoes and clothes that can get dirty and wet. They can't wear bathing suits though. Wednesday they may bring their electronics and games. They also need to remember to bring a beach ball for our beach ball signing party. The $1.50 is due for the pizza and if you signed up for an icecream topping, please send it to school on Wednesday as well. Your child knows what to bring. Also the kids can bring a pop on Wednesday too. We will have a signing time with the other 4th graders on Tuesday afternoon, so the kids need to bring their yearbook if they have one. On Monday, a K-9 officer is coming to talk to the kids and do a dog demonstration.

I am sorry if the post is a little confusing and out of order this time, but that tells you how my brain is functioning right now! LOL

On Wednesday, your child should come home with a folder that has in it the following:
*Report card
*A poem your child wrote about him/herself
*A letter to you from me
*A poem to you from me
*Any awards your child may have gotten for Mastery Club, Reading Goal, or Spelling Enrichment........not all children participated in these

FYI

Tomorrow is Kindergarten Day! I am allowing the kids to bring a blanket, stuffed animal, and a pillow to school. We are going to enjoy the day being very little again. I want the children to remember to enjoy being young, even though they are moving into upper elementary school. I hope they will not try to grow up too fast! There is plenty of time to be older later.

We will start the day with kindergarten worksheets such as practicing our handwriting and adding small numbers using pictures of objects. We will then move into learning centers. These include a listening station, blocks, painting, making a piece of art, and a few other things! Next we will have juice and cookies. In the afternoon, we will get to watch a Rainbow Fish video, take a nap, and go outside to play Red light, Green light, and Duck Duck Goose! The day should be fun!

Week of 5/12/08

Wow! I can't believe there are only 8 more school days! It is bittersweet! Summer is great, but your children are very special to me and I don't want to let them go. Last week was so busy, but wonderfully fun! The children were well behaved even with all the excitement! Our Leonardo's field trip was so much fun! It was enjoyable for the kids to meet their pen pals. Some of the kids really seemed to bond. Our auction was a huge success!! All the items were completely wiped out! It was so fun to watch the kids with a real auctioneer! Brady Lippard did an awesome job! This week will thankfully not be so busy. Here is what is on the agenda:

Reading - Literature circles
Math - Adding/Subtracting unlike denominators
Social Studies - The gold rush and the railroad
Science - Observation journals on double ecosystem, grassheads, and butterflies
English - Diamante poems

Hopefully we will get to go to Little Olympics on Wednesday for the third try! It does still have rain in the forecast. Let's hope they're wrong!!!

I need your help one last time. On the last day of school, we will have a Pizza/Icecream Sundae Party! I plan on buying the icecream and chipping in $10 for the pizza. Please help me with the rest of the cost. If each child could bring $1.50 and some of the children could donate an icecream topping of some sort, it would help tremendously! The other thing I would like to do is have a beachball signing. Please send the $1.50 and a beachball to school by Monday of next week.

If you can donate an icecream topping, please sign and cut off the bottom portion of this note. If you are reading this on the blog, please post a message instead. I will get back to you and with your child's help, assign you a topping.

I can donate an icecream topping.

FYI

I forgot to mention that we have a Spanish test on Wednesday. I sent a study guide home today. The test is over animals and habitats. It shouldn't be too hard if the children look over it a few times. Many of the Spanish words are similar to the English words.

Also, we will not have a spelling test this week. We will only be working with the words in class.
