Week of February 6th

Hi All! Hope everything is well with you! We've been moving right along! The children are working hard and so smart!! Love my babies!! Here is the week's agenda:

Reading - We will begin a new theme this month......Dogs! The children will be reading leveled fiction books about dogs.  We will be reading a book as a class this month as well called, Because of Winn Dixie. We will be doing related work with it as well.  Our skill focus this week is Fact and Opinion.

Math - Long Division  (ugh) Such a tough concept for several of the children.  It requires multi-steps and multiplication fact knowledge.  This is why it is so very difficult for some.  Please work at home if your child is struggling with this concept.  I need backup! Ha! 1 of me and 20 of them +1 hour of new concept math = They need more practice!!  I have some peer tutoring going on, but practice makes perfect!

English - Online stories, pronouns, and prepositions

Spelling - List 17 spellings for 'o'  The enriched list is 17.5

Social Studies - We will finish up our SE Region unit this week.  The children will create a SE Locations and Capitals study guide on Monday to take home and study for their tests on Wednesday and Friday.  The location test will be first.  We will also be watching a couple of videos of Harriet Tubman and Abe Lincoln.

The Super Bowl Reading Celebration and Banana Split Party will be Tuesday afternoon at 1:30.  Parents who signed up to help, please be here around 1:15.  Thanks so very much to all the parents who donated items for our 100 Day snack and/or for the banana splits!!! You rock!! We so appreciate you!!

I will let you know how we placed in the Super Bowl Reading Challenge! No matter what I am very proud of them!!  We definitely have some Rock Star Readers!!!!!!
