Week of October 11th

Hi Families!  Here is the agenda for this week:

Reading - We will begin the book, The BFG, by Roald Dahl, this week.  It is a delightful fantasy that will keep us both laughing and in suspense!  The genre we are studying this month is fantasy. The skill of the week is making inferences.

English - Verbs and Adjectives

Spelling - List 13 on spellingcity  Suffixes

Math - Estimating sums and differences, Adding whole numbers, Word problems

Social Studies - Oklahoma History - We have been talking about and will review Oklahoma history. The children will create a study guide for a test over this information.  The study guide will go home on Monday.  The test will be on Friday.  We will also work on our Oklahoma Symbols book.

Don't forget that the field trip to Turkey Creek School is this Thursday.  Look for an envelope to come home on Wednesday. In this envelope, please include the $5 admission fee and an extra $7 if you want a class picture.

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences begin this Tuesday.  I will send home a reminder of the time you signed up for on Monday.  Looking forward to sharing a little spot of time with you and your child to talk about our days at school and your child's strengths, weaknesses, grades so far, reading level, test results, and AR points and goals, etc.  :)

Quote of the week: A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

Have a great first week of October!!
